Carmen Pérez-Hogan
1939-2026
Carmen Pérez-Hogan, former NYS TESOL president (1974) and longtime advocate for bilingual and ENL students, has passed away.
She was a transformative leader in New York State’s educational landscape, dedicating her career to ensuring equitable opportunities for ENL and bilingual students.
Often referred to as a "giant" in the field, her legacy continues to inform current NYSED policy and practices ensuring that cultural and linguistic diversity are viewed as assets within the classroom.
