EDUCATOR AWARDS

Teacher Materials Grant

Provides funding for projects or experiences which directly enrich students‘ language, academic, and cultural learning experiences. ESL/ENL learners may be of any age or level.  These materials should be for a project/activity/lesson that you propose in the application, and not for everyday classroom supplies (e.g. chalk, paper, etc.). Submit 1-page document outlining proposed project. Grantees will be required to submit an article about their projects to NYS TESOL for publication.

Marie and Richard Baecher Teacher Leadership Award

To recognize the important contribution teacher leaders make to English learner education, this award goes to an educator with at least five years of teaching experience in the field of TESOL (elementary, secondary, adult, or higher education). The nominee should demonstrate leadership beyond the classroom (at the school, district, regional level) that supports the academic and social well-being of English learners in New York state ESL and bilingual programs.  This leadership is not administrative but as a coach, professional development provider, curriculum designer, or community organizer.

 To honor a member of NYS TESOL who has shown dedication to the profession of TESOL, and the advancement of English Language Learners. The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an individual who is retiring or making a transition from a long, distinguished career in the field of TESOL.
