Mission Statement
Statement of Purpose
The NYS TESOL Special Education SIG provides a forum for ESL educators and administrators to raise, discuss, and address issues relevant to English Language learners with special needs in New York State. It creates opportunities for educators to learn, interact, collaborate, and share with one another.
Statement of Goals
The NYS TESOL Special Education SIG is dedicated to promoting:
- Professional development opportunities and participation in the area of special education for ESL Educators and Administrators;
- Opportunity for study and research in the field of special education as it relates to English Language learners (ELLs);
- Information and the dissemination of issues relevant to ELLs with special needs;
- Policies that will improve the understanding of ELLs with special needs, and
- Advocating for the rights of ELLs.
