Mission Statement
Statement of Purpose
The NYS TESOL Elementary SIG provides a network for elementary educators to communicate, share and develop quality programs for ELL students in the elementary settings. The elementary SIG aspires to strengthen the knowledge and skills of elementary school educators through dialogue and collaboration.
Statement of Goals
- To provide an opportunity for ESL teachers in the elementary schools to share best practices.
- To provide a venue for elementary school teachers to meet and discuss salient issues.
- To enable ESL teachers to become successful advocates in their respective educational communities.
- To provide assistance to pre- and in-service educators through collaboration and dialogue
- To encourage teachers to be more pro-active.
- To facilitate professional development skills.
- To provide a setting in which the voices of elementary ESL educators are heard.
