Hudson Valley

Aiko Pletch is a lecturer at the State University of New York in New Paltz in the Haggerty English Language Program and she is honored to be this month’s NYS TESOL Member of the Month.

She has been a teacher for over 15 years and has been at SUNY for the past 6 helping students from all parts of the world pursue their goals to achieve academic success in the US. In addition to classes which focus on developing core skills of English, she has taught and developed courses which focus on teaching academic survival skills and understanding American culture.  Aiko also co-coordinates a conversation partners program that helps match ESL students with American students on campus for one on one conversations in English.

While a member of NYS TESOL, Aiko has enjoyed and benefited from the annual conferences both as an attendee and a participant. In addition, regular newsletters and being a part of the NYS TESOL listserv allows Aiko to stay up to date in trends in ENL teaching and in the challenges and successes that her colleagues face each day.

Check out our wonderful annual awards and nominate a colleague this year !
