Dr. Joshua Pangborn


Dr. Joshua R. Pangborn is the Regional Trainer for the East Coast and Academic Director of Kaplan International in the Empire State Building, where he has worked since 2005. Joshua received his doctoral degree in English Literature in 2014 from St. John's University.

In 2010, Joshua founded the Kaplan Theatre Ensemble, the theatre program unique to Kaplan Empire State. The program focuses on providing English Language Learners with an opportunity to perform on stage in English. Joshua, an award-winning playwright, writes the plays for the students. In collaboration with NYS TESOL, Joshua has hosted mini-conferences at Kaplan for the past three years. Last year, he was a featured speaker at the annual NYS TESOL conference.

When not at Kaplan, Joshua runs SideKick Productions, an award-winning production company focused on LGBT and body positive representation in film and television. With thousands of subscribers on YouTube and an international fan-base, the company is best known for their flagship series Skeleton Crew, now entering production on its fifth season. The series features an international cast, with actors from all over the United States, Europe, South America, and East Asia.
