The new Members Only website has many interactive features to facilitate job searches, discussions about relevant issues, and networking with other members.
My Profile
This feature allows you to create a professional profile and share certain information with other members. For your privacy, NYS TESOL has set your membership contact information to “private,” but you can upload a photo, and publish an “email to share” or a link to your professional blog/webpage. With these optional features, you can control your own outreach to the NYS TESOL community as much or little as is comfortable for you.
Networking
NYS TESOL has members in all regions of our large state, but our new Members Only Website makes it easy to remain in close contact. Start a new adventure with the Community Circles and Discussion Forum features. You can join your colleagues in existing forums and discussion groups, or start your own. The Search Members feature will help you locate and connect with other members with similar professional interests.
Events and Deadlines
Have you ever missed an event because you couldn’t find the time, date or location? How about deadlines for proposal submissions or registrations? Our new Events and Deadlines hub will be your one-stop information center. The NYS TESOL Events Calendar and Events List provide an easy way to locate important time-sensitive information such as the upcoming Annual Conference and Applied Linguistics Winter Conference.
Resources
Educators need resources to keep up with current trends and optimize career opportunities. Through the Resources features, you can post comments and questions in the Community Circles, pursue a particular educational topic more rigorously in the Discussion Forums; read about teaching tips in Dialogue; or visit the Career Resources section for job coaching and career-building advice. Of course, the long-standing NYS TESOL E-list on the public website will continue to provide a forum to share ideas with members and non-members alike.
