The NYS TESOL community is shocked and saddened by the recent events in Haiti. Our colleagues, students, and their families both in Haiti and in the New York metro area have suffered tremendous losses due to this unprecedented disaster caused by the earthquake. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to them and encourage NYS TESOL members to donate generously to the organizations which are providing aid and relief to the Haitian people.

Bridging the Gap III

The NYS TESOL Higher Education SIG and Regions Committee present:

Bridging the Gap III: A Dialogue between ESL Instructors in Secondary and Higher Education Settings

Date: Saturday, February 27th, 2010
Location: Pace University, New York City
Time: 1:30pm - 4:30pm

This mini-conference will explore curriculum issues within secondary school and higher education composition classes. We aim to create an informal setting within which to exchange knowledge so that secondary education teachers and their counterparts in the college composition classrooms increase their awareness regarding content and expectations within their educational settings. Specifically, we will compare and contrast curriculum content and assignments in order to assist our students to bridge the gap between secondary and college composition expectations.
